Communist Party and State Security

  • Remarks during the selection of the КПКОНПИ chair. In the parliamentary Anti-Corruption Committee, DPS proposed that a candidate for КПКОНПИ chair found to have ДС affiliation be declared unfit; DB and PP did not support the proposal. As a DPS MP he asked: "So you are saying you will not nominate persons with ДС affiliation?" (our translation). He also said the wish of those in government was to fight the person. — News.bg, 14 June 2022

Other

  • On the Magnitsky sanctions against Delyan Peevski. In a conversation with host Benovska published by Focus, the DPS regional chairman in Pernik said that whether Peevski did what is alleged and whether the sanctions are well founded will be decided by the American court where the administrative action has been appealed. He added: "Magnitsky, through this MF and this office, says there is a problem in Bulgaria, but provides no evidence" (our translation). — Focus News Agency, 4 March 2023
  • Assessment of Ahmed Dogan. On the programme Беновска пита on Radio K2, as retold by Focus, he answered that Ahmed Dogan is without doubt a guarantor of ethnic peace, being an irreplaceable figure in the Bulgarian, Balkan and European political model. He also agreed with the view, cited by the host, that the DPS honorary chairman is the only one who can lead Bulgaria at this historic moment. — Focus News Agency, 3 September 2022
