Corruption and scandals
- The Kremikovtzi and CSKA case. He and three co-defendants were accused of embezzling 29 million leva from Kremikovtzi and 3.5 million euro from CSKA, using the steel plant's property to finance the purchase of the football club. He was chief executive of Kremikovtzi and CSKA Sofia in 2005/09, when both were owned by the Indian steel magnate Pramod Mittal. According to The Sofia Globe he was sentenced to nine years in prison in January 2011, but the Sofia Court of Appeals ordered a retrial, finding that the presiding judge had used "contradictory legal judgment for the same circumstances". On 17 February 2015 Sofia City Court acquitted him; prosecutors had asked for ten years. He has always denied the charges and said the case was politically motivated. — The Sofia Globe, 17.02.2015
- The acquittal is confirmed. On 13 November 2015 the Sofia Court of Appeals confirmed the lower court's ruling acquitting Tomov and his three co-defendants. The three-judge panel agreed that the prosecutors' evidence showed no proof of embezzlement. The ruling could be appealed to the Supreme Court of Cassation within 15 days. — The Sofia Globe, 13.11.2015
