Russia
- Demands the removal of sanctions against Russia. After consultations with President Iliana Yotova on 5 May 2026, Slavchev said Vazrazhdane categorically demands that „санкциите срещу Русия трябва да бъдат премахнати, за да може да се намалят цените на горивата“ ("the sanctions against Russia must be removed so that fuel prices can come down", our translation), BNT reports. This is the party's position, and no consequences are known. — BNT, 5 May 2026
- Defends the foreign agents bill. In 2024 Slavchev presented the text tabled by Vazrazhdane as a register of foreign funding, for which „няма значение дали от Русия или Америка“ (our translation: "it makes no difference whether from Russia or America"), BNT reports. In his words the law would cover himself and party leader Kostadinov as well. There is no record of its adoption. — BNT, 1 September 2024
- Against Bulgarian soldiers in Ukraine. Before the June 2024 elections, as list leader for Sofia region, Slavchev said Bulgaria must not send soldiers to Ukraine. In his view the country should be equally distant from Russia and America and serve Bulgarian values: „Стига сме служили на евроатлантическите ценности.“ ("Enough of serving Euro-Atlantic values.", our translation) Epicenter reports this. He was later elected to the 50th National Assembly. — Epicenter, 22 May 2024
- Questions why Bulgaria gives money to Ukraine. After a Ukrainian drone fell near the gas hub, Slavchev told Fakti.bg: „В този бюджет има 17 милиона заделени за Украйна и защо им ги даваме, след като те ни пращат дронове?“ (our translation: "This budget sets aside 17 million for Ukraine, so why are we giving it to them when they send us drones?") He also called for an urgent meeting of the Consultative Council on National Security. No consequences are known. — Fakti.bg, 12 August 2026
Corruption and scandals
- Leaves България без цензура and accuses Barekov. On 20 July 2014 Slavchev left his post as deputy chair of България без цензура and accused its leader Nikolay Barekov, his political rival, of close ties with Delyan Peevski, Flagman.bg reports. The party replied that it would sue him for slander and asked whether he cared about the 9,000 leva monthly salary he received as a TV presenter. No court case has been found. — Flagman.bg, 21 July 2014
- Tabloid calls him Tsvetan Vasilev's man. Blitz.bg titled a piece „Ангел Славчев - човекът на Цветан Василев стана протестър в Елин Пелин“ (our translation: "Angel Slavchev - Tsvetan Vasilev's man became a protester in Elin Pelin"). The outlet presents him as a professional protester and claims his protests against shale gas extraction served interests against European and American companies. The available excerpt contains no evidence, and no confirmation from another outlet has been found. — Blitz.bg
Other
- Against the State Security dossiers bill. At the first reading Slavchev said: „Това е пълна глупост“ (our translation: "This is complete nonsense"). According to Vazrazhdane, in a dispute with PP-DB, the reading was scheduled to delay discussion of a no-confidence vote, News.bg reports. The bill passed despite the party's opposition. — News.bg
