Russia

  • Moscow. According to a notice from the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited by Actualno on 20.02.2024, Vazrazhdane MPs were in Moscow at the invitation of United Russia and visited the Academy, where they were presented with "the new concept of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation" (our translation). The published photo shows MPs Angel Georgiev, Kosta Stoyanov and Ivelin Parvanov, bTV reported. — Actualno, 20.02.2024
  • Sanctions. Speaking to BNT, as quoted by Trud on 25.02.2022, Georgiev, then deputy chair of the foreign policy committee, said "We do not support any aggression", but for Vazrazhdane "the most problematic point is the one where we want to impose sanctions on Russia"; the party had asked who would pay for the damage the sanctions would do to the Bulgarian economy, got no answer, and "we did not support the demand to impose sanctions on the Russian Federation" (our translation). Vazrazhdane voted against the joint declaration on Bulgaria's position on the military action in Ukraine. — Trud, 25.02.2022

Corruption and scandals

  • The Tsalapitsa house. Informiran.net, which describes Angel Georgiev as a parliamentary candidate and Vazrazhdane's regional coordinator for Plovdiv, claims that he bought at a bailiff's (ЧСИ) auction the house of a nine-member family from the village of Tsalapitsa, whom he had promised to help, for nearly 54,000 leva (elsewhere in the text, 55,000 leva), "about 6 times below the market valuation" (our translation). The text is signed only with the outlet's name; its headline calls Georgiev "Kopeykin's right hand" and the text calls him "the Plovdiv bandit" (our translation); it carries no reply from Georgiev. — Informiran.net, 29.10.2021
  • Immunity. Acting Chief Prosecutor Vanya Stefanova asked the 52nd National Assembly to lift Georgiev's immunity so the case could continue, in which he is charged with causing bodily harm to a police officer out of hooligan motives and aggravated hooliganism at a protest on 27.01.2020. Georgiev called it yet another politically motivated case and said he was waiving his immunity himself ("I will give up my immunity once again", our translation). He and co-defendant Veselin Veshev say they were beaten by police. — Sega, 11.06.2026
