Corruption and scandals

  • Gyurov in parliament: she asked to be released herself. In parliamentary question time on 06.03.2026, PM Andrey Gyurov stated that Boneva had signed her own resignation and had personally asked him to release her for health reasons. The question came from Toshko Yordanov of ITN, who cited media reports that PP-DB MPs Ivaylo Mirchev and Boyko Bozhanov had pressured her over appointments. Gyurov heads the cabinet she was leaving. President Yotova accepted her request. The facts about the alleged pressure have been neither proven nor refuted, Filter notes. — Filter, 06.03.2026
  • Took over the ministry amid a scandal over road-maintenance annexes. The scandal concerned annexes to road-maintenance contracts worth hundreds of millions of euros, signed at the last moment before the change of government, Sega writes. According to the paper, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) pushed through further mega-contracts. At that point Boneva asked for the resignation of API board chair Yordan Valchev and put board member Stoyan Nikolov in his place. Valchev was dismissed. Sega reports no charges against her. — Sega, 04.03.2026
  • Allegation: her resignation was demanded over refusing PP-DB's requests. Glasove.com, citing unnamed government sources, writes that PM Gyurov demanded her resignation because she refused requests from PP-DB's Ivaylo Mirchev and Andrey Tsekov: to replace the board of ViK Holding, to dismiss two API board members, and to fire the heads of DNSK and AGKK. The site also reports that she returned to the ministry on 05.03 and refused to leave. This was first posted on Facebook by Nikola Nikolov, PR chief of GERB, a political rival of PP-DB, which the story accuses. The PM denies it and says Boneva herself asked to be released for health reasons. President Yotova signed the decree on 06.03.2026. Neither side has produced documents or an official explanation of the dispute. — Glasove.com, 05.03.2026
