Communist Party and State Security

  • State Security Major General Konstantin (Dicho) Atanasov. A question for the MP. Konstantin (Dicho) Ivanov Atanasov, born in 1922 in Nikolaevka, Varna region, was a State Security major general: in 1964 he became head of the intelligence directorate, from 1977 to 1983 he was ambassador to France, and from 1981 to 1990 he was a member of the Communist Party Central Committee, according to Wikipedia. We met the claim that he is the MP's grandfather only in an automated search report that names no source; we found no publication that confirms or rules it out. The MP was born in 1993 in Sofia; what we can show the two have in common is the surname. The outlet notes that at the same time he sat on the parliamentary budget and finance committee and its subcommittee on control of public funds.
