Russia
- The Kremlin. On 18 September 2026, speaking from the parliamentary rostrum on behalf of Democratic Bulgaria, Slavov said: "Independence and sovereignty are incompatible with a vassal policy toward the Big Brother from the Kremlin", and that they exclude "the protection from international sanctions of Russian oligarchs and chekists in white veils" (our translation). — Club Z, 18.09.2026
Corruption and scandals
- Geshev. Former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev is suing the outgoing Justice Minister Atanas Slavov for defamation. In March 2024 Geshev said he would insist that Slavov be summoned to court as a defendant, "in order to put my questions to him about his claims, which rest on no facts and are a lie" (our translation). — 24 Chasa, 21.03.2024
- The notaries. The transfer of three notaries from the provinces to Sofia, made by Slavov on his last day as Minister of Justice, 8 April 2024, "seriously stirred up the system" (our translation). The head of the Notary Chamber, Dimitar Tanev, told Sega that it remained to be decided whether to appeal the orders, and called it strange that the move was made in the last days of the mandate. Slavov replied that the transfers followed court rulings that had to be carried out. Sega found court rulings for two of the transfers; in one of them the court obliged the minister to decide on the application without directing what the decision should be. — Sega, 18.04.2024
