Russia
- Russia. In November 2022 the European Parliament adopted, with 494 votes in favour, 58 against and 44 abstentions, a resolution designating Russia a "state sponsor of terrorism" (our translation). Alieva-Veli (DPS) was among the Bulgarian MEPs who voted in favour; the five BSP MEPs voted against. — RFE/RL, 23.11.2022
- Ammunition. In May 2023 the European Parliament voted, 518 in favour, 59 against and 31 abstentions, to use the urgent procedure for the Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP) for Ukraine. According to Club Z, Atidzhe Alieva-Veli of the DPS and the Renew Europe group, and Andrey Slabakov of VMRO, did not take part in the vote. — Club Z, 09.05.2023
Corruption and scandals
- The subsidy. Bivol claims that the notification letter for a BGN 25,596 subsidy, contracted in 2014 with the sole-trader firm "Djemile Veli", was signed by Atidzhe Alieva-Veli as deputy executive director of the State Fund Agriculture, and that Djemile Veli is the mother of the husband of her sister. According to Bivol this is "an obvious conflict of interest, which however was not declared" (our translation). — Bivol, 21.07.2020
- State Fund Agriculture. In connection with a Bivol investigation into guesthouses under the Rural Development Programme approved in 2010-2011, RFE/RL writes that at the time Veli "was indeed not deputy head of the State Fund Agriculture, but head of the sector 'Methodology and Control' in the directorate 'Contracting under the rural development measures'", which processed the applicants' documents (our translation). The mayor of Borino, Mustafa Karaahmed, brother-in-law of DPS leader Mustafa Karadayi, whose own guesthouse project is among those discussed, says that Atidzhe Veli was not "at the State Fund Agriculture in charge specifically of the Rural Development Programme" (our translation). — RFE/RL, 17.05.2019
- The prosecution. Bivol, in a text that calls for replacing the chief prosecutor, claims that Atidzhe Alieva-Veli's signatures are under many of the guesthouse projects for which the State Fund Agriculture is now trying to recover money, and that "Veli has not been troubled in any way by the pre-trial authorities, nor questioned, nor anything" (our translation). She became an MEP in 2019. — Bivol, 06.01.2022
- The working group. In July 2019 four officials of the State Fund Agriculture charged with malfeasance in office in the "Minyu Staykov" affair were released on bail. According to their relatives, the charge concerns a working group in which they took part; Mediapool writes that it was created by order of the fund's then director Rumen Porozhanov and that its work "was supervised by the then deputy head of the fund Atidzhe Alieva-Veli, who is today an MEP from the DPS. No charges have been brought against them" (our translation). — Mediapool, 19.07.2019
Other
- Her father. Bivol reported in May 2019, when she was deputy executive director of the State Agriculture Fund and a DPS candidate for the European Parliament, that "her father Bayryam Aliev acquired in 2015 a 164 sq m apartment plus a 30 sq m garage in a luxury building in the Manastirski Livadi district" (our translation), and asked where he found BGN 215,000, "given that he never had companies, never held a well-paid post, never sold property and never took a mortgage" (our translation). — Bivol, 07.05.2019
