Corruption and scandals

  • The microphones. Of the budget committee session on 26.11.2025, RFE/RL writes: "Bayram Bayram of the DPS, for his part, tried to tear out the microphones of PP-DB", and under a photo of the session: "Bayram Bayram of the DPS reaches for the microphone of Asen Vasilev of PP-DB" (our translation). The outlet describes the session as a dispute after the majority tried to hold it nearly two hours earlier than announced. — RFE/RL, 26.11.2025
  • Kirkovo. After a meeting on 3 June 2026 the DPS municipal council in Kirkovo published a position about "actions and decisions of representatives of the party's central leadership" which, according to some members, do not match the principles of collegiality and internal party dialogue (our translation). The mayor of Kardzhali, Erol Myumyun, and MP Bayram Bayram were named as members of the DPS Central Operational Bureau. Sega writes that it is not said what they had done to cause concern. — Sega, 07.06.2026
  • The municipal flat. A publication mentioning a person with a near-identical name, spelled "Bayryam Bayryam" (the page gives no other detail linking him to the MP): in May 2018 bTV reported on DPS municipal councillors in Kardzhali housed in municipal flats while another 400 low-income people waited for municipal flats: "One of them is Bayryam Bayryam of the DPS. He believes it is moral to live there. For a 90 sq m apartment the councillor's family pays rent of 70 leva a month" (our translation). The criticism in the report comes from GERB; the mayor replied that the regulations allow it. — bTV News, 31.05.2018
  • The declaration. According to Sega's review of the declarations, "Bayram Bayram of the DPS owns, together with his wife, two apartments in Kardzhali since 2018 and four guest rooms in the town acquired in 2025" (our translation). "Everything was paid for with loans" (our translation): three mortgages and four consumer loans totalling about BGN 660,000; his wife holds shares in three companies. — Sega, 08.2026
