Corruption and scandals
- Dismissed as Sliven police director, reinstated by the Supreme Administrative Court. Mediapool, relying on Bivol, which found the classified decisions of the Supreme Administrative Court, writes that he was removed from the regional MVR directorate on 19 November 2010. The official explanation was „for administrative violations committed“ (our translation), while according to the outlet the court acts discuss crimes: pressure on ministry staff and inducement to perjury. The trigger, per a report by chief inspector Kiril Kirov cited in the decisions: drunk, he refused to pay his bill in a piano bar, threatened the waitress and ordered the duty patrol cars to come. A three-member panel upheld the dismissal; on 18 December 2012 a five-member panel chaired by Milka Pancheva, with Georgi Cholakov as a member, reinstated him because the absolute time limits had expired on 15 November 2010 and the order was issued four days later. The piece concerns Cholakov's candidacy to head the court. bTV reports that he returned as head of the regional police directorate. — Mediapool (citing Bivol), 8 September 2017, bTV News, 11 March 2013
- His name in a Sopharma group report, according to Frognews. The outlet writes that he appears on the group's board of directors in its 2007 consolidated activity report and that he is in management at Biofarm Engineering AD – Sliven, while at the time of the report he was already serving director of the Sliven regional police directorate. It notes that the MVR Act forbids the ministry's staff to take part in the management of joint-stock companies. Lawsuits were brought against him over the appropriation of shares of deceased shareholders, which he won, the site adds. — Frognews, 7 December 2015
