Other

  • Left Vazrazhdane, accusing its leadership of pressure. As chair of the Pazardzhik organisation of Vazrazhdane and a municipal councillor, she announced at the BTA press club on 12.04.2024 that she was leaving the party, dissolving the structure and staying on as an independent councillor. She gave as the reason pressure from the party's MP Стоян Таслаков over votes in the council. She alleges that leader Костадин Костадинов and Таслаков made "unprecedented agreements without the structure's knowledge" (our translation), and that she was told how to vote only afterwards, "against my will and against the will of our voters" (our translation). As examples of pressure she named the vote on removing the council chair and her inclusion in a representative group of councillors. The agency asked Таслаков for comment and he said he would send a statement by the end of the day. Protocol No 5 of the session of 25.04.2024 records that "Десислава Георгиева notifies that she is leaving the group of PP Vazrazhdane" (our translation). — Utro Ruse (from BTA), 12.04.2024, Marica, 12.04.2024, Pazardzhik Municipal Council, protocol No 5
