Communist Party and State Security

  • Agent MLADEN of DS-Karlovo. The site agentibg.com cites a report preserved in the archives dated 1947, according to which he was recruited as an agent of DS-Karlovo to work among the Agrarian Youth Union, of which he was a member. He was registered under the pseudonym MLADEN. In a later document of 1950 the DS admits that he "did not work with our service and was two-faced" (our translation). — agentibg.com, 06.03.2015
  • Re-recruited as BRATOVCHEDA. According to agentibg.com he was recruited a second time in 1968 by Dicho Kumanov for the Plovdiv district directorate of the Ministry of the Interior and DS, under the pseudonym BRATOVCHEDA. His file states that he handed over written data on his contacts in Plovdiv district, 37 persons in all, and divided the former Agrarian opposition into three groups. He was struck off the operational record on 19 March 1987 for health reasons. — agentibg.com, 06.03.2015
  • DS help for the agent BRATOVCHEDA. The site agentibg.com writes that the DS helped him to be admitted as a correspondence student at the Higher Economic Institute in Svishtov in 1969 and to obtain Plovdiv residence, and that in 1972 he was offered work in retail trade, where he was hired. In 1975, at his request, a meeting was held at a DS-provided venue in Hisarya with Deputy Minister of the Interior D. Stoilov about his unresolved housing problem. — agentibg.com, 06.03.2015
  • Sentences of 1951 and 1957. According to the same site, he went underground in February 1951 and set up a group in his home area; the same year he was arrested, received 15 years and was set free in 1956. In 1957 he was detained again for distributing leaflets against the authorities, sentenced to 4 years and released in early 1960. — agentibg.com, 06.03.2015
  • The agent was not declared by the Bonev and Andreev commissions. The site agentibg.com notes that his status as a DS agent was not declared by the two SDS commissions, Bonev (1997) and Andreev (2001-2002), although the surviving volumes of his file contain handwritten reports. It was declared only in 2007 by the Dossier Commission chaired by Evtim Kostadinov. — agentibg.com, 06.03.2015
