Russia

• Russian windows. In an interview on Nova TV's „Ofanziva“ Drenchev admitted that he had not sold Russian windows. Sega writes: „Drenchev insisted that he wants to have a choice of what to buy, and that now, because of the sanctions on Russia, he is deprived of it“ (our translation). — Sega, 06.04.2026
• Russian oil. In the energy committee Drenchev backed a bill tabled by Kostadin Kostadinov and a group of MPs that would let the Council of Ministers request an exemption from the ban on imports of oil and oil products from Russia. According to BTA, he said the amendments „give the government an instrument to better protect the national interest“ (our translation). The committee did not support the bill; Energy Minister Iva Petrova said the ministry's opinion was negative. — BTA, 07.10.2026
• Guarantees for Ukraine. According to a Vazrazhdane press release published by BTA, at an extraordinary budget committee meeting the ruling majority approved Bulgaria becoming a guarantor, together with four other European countries, of European Investment Bank loans for repairing the infrastructure of Ukrainian municipalities. Drenchev commented: „At the same time Bulgaria provides a 20 million leva bank guarantee“ (our translation). Corruption and scandals

• Tax debts. According to Mediapool, two of MP Dimo Drenchev's companies have for two years appeared on the National Revenue Agency (NRA) list of persons with unsettled public debts, owing over 240,000 BGN in total. At the same time he submitted proposals to reduce revenue in the 2025 budget, among them a 9% VAT rate for restaurant and catering services. — Mediapool, 11.03.2025
• The companies. BIRD reports: „The companies “Efektivni Sgradi – Bulgaria”, “Bratya Gradevi” and “Dush Kabini BG”, owned by the Drenchev brothers, owe a total of 321 thousand BGN to the NRA as of 06.04.2025“ (our translation). According to BIRD, the debts were down from over 400 thousand BGN in February, and Dimo Drenchev is a member of the parliamentary budget and finance committee. — BIRD, 23.04.2025
• Petrohan. On the BNT morning show Drenchev claimed that the three people killed at the Petrohan lodge „are a sect, some kind of religious cult“, and: „I have known about this sect since the previous decade“ (our translation).
