Corruption and scandals
- State Financial Inspection Agency: violations in road transport subsidies. rns.bg, citing provadiadnes.com and a short summary on the agency's website, writes: “Provadia's mayor with 39 new acts from the State Financial Inspection Agency for 374,493 leva of damages caused” (our translation). The audit covers central-budget funds for compensation and subsidies for road transport from 01.07.2011 to 31.12.2014; the inspectors also found 7 “indicators of fraud” (our translation) within the meaning of the State Financial Inspection Act. — rns.bg, 12.04.2017
- A GERB signal to the chief prosecutor. GERB, a political rival, announces that it will refer him to Sotir Tsatsarov for assigning public road transport to a private firm without a public tender; the party cites reports of the State Financial Inspection Agency. BNT: “According to them he caused financial damage to the municipality of hundreds of thousands of leva” (our translation). - Court case over public transport in Provadia. Silna Varna, a partner of Provaton, which says that four of the six pre-trial proceedings against him and other office-holders were opened on its own signals, reports a case at the Administrative Court in Varna: a prosecutor of the Varna Regional Prosecutor's Office seeks to reopen the administrative-penal proceedings under penal decree No 11-01–24 of 17.05.2017 issued by the director of the State Financial Inspection Agency, because pre-trial proceedings on the same facts are pending.
