Corruption and scandals
- Cultural-monument house lost its façade after insulation work. Boulevard Bulgaria writes that the house at 180 Tsar Simeon Street in Sofia is a cultural monument and that after renovation with thermal insulation its façade lost its most characteristic elements: a balcony, an attic window and pilasters. On ownership it says: "His father owned the property between 2000 and 2019, and since 2021 the building has been owned by the MP and his two brothers" (our translation). According to Dnevnik, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture confirmed the violations. Valkov says he did not know about the building's status and has no problem with it being restored. The complaint was filed by the director of NINKN, architect Petar Petrov, who was later dismissed by Culture Minister Mariyan Bachev – according to the outlet, for failing to cope with the job. No follow-up action by the institutions is reported. — Boulevard Bulgaria, 15 July 2025
