Russia

  • Lukoil. BIRD claims that the recorded conversations with Stankov also show "that lobbyist laws for Lukoil are being pushed" (our translation). The article gives no details and does not say who is pushing the laws. — BIRD, 22.06.2022

Corruption and scandals

  • Kapitan Andreevo. BIRD claims, citing recordings of conversations between Kalin Kirov and the MP, that the food safety agency BABH and GERB MP Georgi Stankov "pressed and put pressure on competitors" of the "gold business" at Kapitan Andreevo, linked to Christoforos Amanatidis (Taki) (our translation). According to BIRD, in 2018 Stankov told Kirov, whose animal rest point near the village of Tsalapitsa had not started operating, that it would not be allowed to operate, but that if Kirov did him a "small favour" (our translation) the rest point would be bought out at the value of the investment; the favour was to make the sheep of Anna Petrova from Bolyarovo disappear. BIRD says it told Stankov that there is a signal against him for corruption and for maintaining an artificial monopoly; he replied that he was in parliament and could not talk, and then stopped answering his phone. The recordings are of Kirov's conversations, and Kirov is a party to the dispute; the article reports no charge against Stankov. — BIRD, 22.06.2022
  • The business card. On 5 July 2021 caretaker Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov, in a public clash with GERB and the prosecutor's office, said that "lists of 28,000 voters have been found in properties of persons linked to GERB in the Haskovo region" (our translation). According to RFE/RL, Rashkov said that the evidence for the scheme included a business card of the GERB candidate MP in the region, Georgi Stankov; the head of the National Police, Stanimir Stanev, reported three people detained. Former GERB MP Toma Bikov called Rashkov's claims "loud noise from a rather confused person" (our translation). The article reports no action against Stankov. — RFE/RL, 05.07.2021
  • His daughters. Bivol reports, in an investigation into apartment purchases in Krastova Vada by members of the Haskovo "Dreamteam": "The two daughters of the GERB-Haskovo MP Georgi Stankov, known for the cake garnished with wads of euros, bought off-plan in the future building in Krastova Vada" (our translation). — Bivol, 10.04.2019
