• Penalty proceedings over a remark about GERB terminated by the CEC. By decision No. 1715-МИ of 19.12.2019 the Central Election Commission terminated the administrative-penalty proceedings against Хатидже Мехмедова Георгиева, a candidate for mayor of Сунгурларе in the local elections of 27.10.2019. The chair of the Сунгурларе municipal election commission had drawn up a report against her stating that on 11.10.2019 in the town she campaigned before citizens and, by her remark, damaged the morals, honour and good name of GERB (Art. 183(4) of the Electoral Code). The Commission found that the report describes the offence incompletely: the words of the remark and the place where it was made are missing. — Central Election Commission, published by BTA, 19.12.2019
• Dismissed from the post of deputy mayor. The mayor of Сунгурларе, Георги Кенов, told Flagman.bg that he dismissed his deputy Хатидже Георгиева for failing in her duties: „Изгоних я, защото губихме пари от европейски проекти.“ (our translation: I drove her out because we were losing money from European projects). He said correspondence on projects important to the municipality, among them the water main of the village of Подвис, had been delayed for eight months. She was not a political appointee, he hired her as an expert, and in his words she is at the root of his conflict with Халил Ахмед, chair of the municipal council and of the local DPS branch.
