Corruption and scandals
- The Court of Arbitration for Sport questions her independence as a witness. In award CAS 2025/A/11220 of 13.01.2026 the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismisses the appeal of Evangelia Trikomiti (Cyprus) and European Gymnastics and confirms Trikomiti's sanction – four years' ineligibility for manipulating scores at the 2024 European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Budapest. Todorova is the main witness supporting Trikomiti; the panel holds that her personal ties to the Trikomiti family are of obvious relevance to her independence, and that the two women's refusal to answer questions on it gives rise to a suspicion of coordinated testimony. She is not a party to the case and the award imposes no sanction on her, while Petel runs a headline saying she is “involved in manipulation” (our translation).
