Communist Party and State Security

  • Grandson of a communist finance minister. Bivol.bg writes of him and Kiril Radev Nedev: "The two are cousins, grandsons of the communist notable Kiril Lazarov" (our translation), finance minister until 1962 and a member of the Central Committee of the БКП. — Bivol.bg, 12.06.2013
  • A question from the editors: is agent "Атанасов" his father? A question from the editors. Dimitar Iliev Lazarov (born 13.11.1933 in Sofia), ambassador in Rome in 1995–2001, was declared by the Dossier Commission a secret collaborator of State Security's First Chief Directorate (foreign intelligence) under the pseudonym "Атанасов". Is he the father of Ilia Dimitrov Lazarov? We found no document on the kinship. The patronymic matches, Ilia is the name of the ambassador's father, both were born in Sofia, and Bulgarian Wikipedia names him as his father. The question is put to Ilia Lazarov, chairman of the СДС. — Dossier Commission, Decision No. 175/2010, State Security Archive, communistornot.com

Corruption and scandals

  • Golf complex near Dolna Banya – ДНСК demolition order. Through the company Лазаров Недев АД, he and his cousin Kiril Radev Nedev are partners of architect Ivan Danov, who according to Bivol.bg prepared the general development plan for the Голф комплекс Ибър. The complex is a public-private partnership between the company and Dolna Banya municipality, which contributed land. The outlet writes that construction began without proper building papers. By 2010, 160 villas had been built and 85 more were under construction when ДНСК ordered the forced demolition of 29 illegal buildings and the removal of a golf course and a training golf course as illegal constructions. "The demolition of the illegal villas ended in early 2011" (our translation). The municipality commented that a golf course "as such does not exist and there is nothing to remove" (our translation). — Bivol.bg, 12.06.2013
