Corruption and scandals
- Proposal to buy official cars. Flagman.bg, the only source on the matter, writes that the mayor is preparing to buy two cars for the municipal administration, for 25,000 and 50,000 leva, while he already rides in a Mercedes bought for 120,000 leva. The outlet expects the municipal council, where DPS holds a majority, to approve the purchase, and residents say it is not needed. - Deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission from 23 June 2026. He was appointed by decree for a five-year term on the nomination of DPS, the newspaper Standart writes. BNR Burgas, citing declarations to KPKONPI, reports that his only property is vineyards in the village of Razhitsa, bought in 2018, and that he has the largest bank savings among mayors in Burgas region: 70,000 leva.
