Corruption and scandals

  • His father Rumen Klisurski – a Greek investor's complaint of extortion. Narod.bg, after the Weekend newspaper, wrote of his candidacy in 2021: „Стига да не го спре биографията на баща му Румен.“ (our translation: "Unless his father Rumen's record stops him.") In 2012 the Sofia mayor, Yordanka Fandakova, answering a question from BSP municipal councillors, reported a complaint by the Greek investor Georgios Karnutsos. According to the complaint, Rumen Klisurski, head of the economic police in the 6th district police station, prevented him from using a plot bought at auction and extorted him. OFFNews writes, citing Mediapool, that disciplinary proceedings were opened and that his dismissal was expected. Rumen Klisurski did not comment in the article. Sbj-bg.eu, reprinting OFFNews, claims the investigation established extortion of the investor, who could not enter a property bought for 900,000 leva, and that he was released from the Interior Ministry. Narod.bg notes that the internal Interior Ministry inquiry was not made public, but he left the police. The sources contain no indictment or conviction. — OFFNews.bg, 8 March 2012, Union of Bulgarian Journalists (sbj-bg.eu), 4 July 2025, Narod.bg (reprint from Weekend), 13 March 2021
  • Partnership with Sibil Hadzhiyordanov in a firm sending patients to Turkey. OFFNews, reprinted by sbj-bg.eu, reports that the MP and Sibil Hadzhiyordanov, whom the outlet describes as the son of ITN's Toshko Yordanov, were 50/50 partners in ISG Medical EOOD, founded in April 2019. He left it in March 2021, later became sole owner, and in April 2025 ownership passed to his mother. The outlet concludes: „В тази дейност няма законово нарушение, тъй като Клисурски е излизал на два пъти от дружеството, когато се кандидатира за депутат.“ (our translation: "There is no legal violation in this activity, because Klisurski left the company twice when he ran for parliament.") Its objection is ethical: ITN and Yordanov speak of bringing doctors back to Bulgaria. No check, sanction or established conflict of interest is reported. — Union of Bulgarian Journalists (sbj-bg.eu), 4 July 2025, after offnews.bg
  • Claim of a family-linked firm running an illegal car park. The newspaper Weekend, reprinted by Narod.bg, claims that the illegal paid car park on the Karnutsos plot was held by the firm Джус 99, in which Svetla, wife of Rumen Klisurski, had shares. Rumen Klisurski was said to have protected the car park. According to the text, a Sofia Municipality check found the car park illegal. Anton Boyanov, a cousin of the Iliev brothers (the VIS-2 group), is named among the firm's partners. The text does not back the company links with a document. The piece comes from the election campaign and is aimed against ITN's list. According to the text, the plot was vacated and Karnutsos took possession. The sources contain no charge against the Klisurski family over the car park. — Narod.bg (reprint from Weekend), 13 March 2021
  • Claims of an expensive lifestyle paid for by his father. The newspaper Weekend, strongly hostile to ITN, writes about the 24-year-old candidate's luxury cars and light aircraft. To comments that he looks like a mobster he replies: „Баща ми ме е учил“ (our translation: "My father taught me"). According to Informiran.net he explains his wealth as a gift. No violation is alleged, and no check or sanction is reported. — Narod.bg (after Weekend), 13 March 2021
