Communist Party and State Security

• Agent "Andrey", with the same patronymic and surname. A question for the MP. In Decision No. 3-4 of 25 June 2025 (state companies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food) the Dossier Commission announces that Georgi Angelov Chorbov, born on 2 October 1950 in Sofia, belonged to State Security. The archive holds a registration journal and cards; a letter of May 1990 asks for the cards of agent "Andrey", reg. No. 71214, to be destroyed. The Commission checked him again in 2026 (Decision No. 3-112, Confederation of Francophone Associations in Bulgaria). The MP was born in 1976 in Sofia; his patronymic is Georgiev. We found no source that confirms or rules out that they are father and son. Russia

• Among those defending the Monument to the Soviet Army. Dir.bg reports that in December 2023 Chorbov, then an MP, was among the first to arrive at the Monument to the Soviet Army in Sofia to defend it against dismantling. The report names him alongside Maya Manolova of Izpravi se, Bulgaria! According to media reports, he swore at protesters there. The figures on the monument were dismantled. In September 2026 Vazrazhdane asked the Council of Ministers to restore it, news.bg writes; this is the party's position, not his personally. — Dir.bg, 12 Dec 2023
• Part of the Vazrazhdane delegation to President Yotova. Marica reports that on 5 May 2026 Chorbov was in the Vazrazhdane delegation at the consultations with President Yotova, together with Angel Slavchev, Georgi Hrisimirov and Svetoslav Todorov, described as MPs of the previous parliament. According to the outlet, the delegation demanded the return of the lev. The same article records that Yotova replied to a demand to lift the sanctions against Russia: they are decided by all 27 EU member states. Corruption and scandals

• Detained after the Vazrazhdane protest in Sofia. Clubz writes that on 22–23 February 2025 Chorbov, then an MP, was photographed masked and holding a hammer at the Vazrazhdane protest outside the European Commission Representation. He was then detained: „Бе обаче бързо освободен заради имунитета си като народен представител.“ (our translation: "He was, however, quickly released because of his immunity as a member of parliament.") — Clubz, 25 Feb 2025
• The prosecution asked for his immunity to be lifted. Standart writes that acting Prosecutor General Sarafov asked the 51st National Assembly for permission to charge Chorbov with hooliganism with particular audacity, destroying police uniforms with paint-filled eggs, and „палеж на имущество със значителна стойност, а именно – сградата на Представителството на Европейската комисия“ (our translation: "arson of property of significant value, namely the building of the Representation of the European Commission"). He also asked for detention in custody. The prosecution, led by Sarafov, is a party to the case. No data on a charge being brought after the end of the mandate were found. — Standart, 27 Feb 2025
• Parliament refused to lift his immunity. 24 Plovdiv reports that MPs again refused to lift the immunity of Chorbov and three other Vazrazhdane MPs, including Slavcho Krumov, or even to consider the prosecutor's request. The immunity was kept, so the prosecution could not charge him while he was an MP. — 24 Plovdiv, 23 Jul 2025
• Allegation of an omitted mortgage in his property declaration. Clubz cites Bird.bg, a site critical of Vazrazhdane, which says that his declaration В2363 of 17.11.2022 omitted a €60,000 mortgage in the name of his wife and several of her properties. According to the same source, КПКОНПИ found the discrepancy and he filed a corrective declaration. No data on a sanction were found. — Clubz, 25 Feb 2025
