Corruption and scandals
- Denies a link to Madzho. In an interview on BNR the politician Tatyana Doncheva says: “Madzho is not behind Trifonov – he only gave him one MP for minister of tourism” (our translation); according to Actualno.com she probably means Mladen Mihalev. In his statement he calls this another attempt to discredit him: “The businessman you name, I do not know him as of 29.08.2021, 14:00, I have not met him” (our translation), and says he is ready to take a polygraph test. — Actualno.com, 30.08.2021
- Non-staff adviser to the tourism minister and partner in a hotel-expo firm. TravelNews, as cited by Trud, reports that he is a consultant on a civil contract to tourism minister Hristo Prodanov (BSP); according to the Commercial Register he is a partner with his wife Kameliya Kozhuharova in Hotel Experts BG OOD. The firm organised a paid presentation of hotels at The Mall shopping centre in Sofia on 14–15 May 2022, and the paper notes that the ministry issues the categorisation of such establishments. He told the outlet: “I am not a staff adviser and so I have no conflict of interest” (our translation); lawyers also say there is formally none, because he holds no state office. — Trud, 12.04.2022
