Russia

  • Remarks on Russia being informed. In parliament he said that Bulgaria informs Russia at the highest state level and that "Russia is 100% informed about everything that happens in NATO and the EU" (our translation). He says Velichie stands for neutrality and for staying in both alliances, and that Vazrazhdane wants to help Moscow. According to Svobodna Evropa, he earlier took part in protests against sending arms to Ukraine. No consequences of the remarks have been found. — pirinsko.com, October 2025
  • Claim of work with Russian services, from a leaked report. An investigation by Kapital, whose publisher Ivo Prokopiev is in a public dispute with Mihaylov, claims on the basis of a leaked, unpublished classified report that ДАНС assessed Istoricheski Park as a financial fraud for 70 million leva and holds data that he worked with Russian services. The claims were put to him on NOVA's На фокус; he disputes them and says he has not seen the document. By his own account to Taralezh in October 2026, the agency denies such a report exists. He links the dispute with Prokopiev to wind turbines in Vetrino. ДАНС has not publicly confirmed it. — Focus News, December 2024

Corruption and scandals

  • Seven detained in the Istoricheski Park case. They were detained in late November 2025 on suspicion of an organised criminal group, money laundering and property fraud. Prosecutors say more than 50 million leva passed through the scheme over about ten years. The Sofia City Court kept them in custody. bTV noted: "As of now Ivelin Mihaylov has not been named as an accused in the case" (our translation). — bTV Novinite, 22.06.2026
  • Istoricheski Park criminal case before the Sofia City Court. eurocom.bg reports that on 14.08.2026 the Sofia City Court allowed the criminal case to proceed. According to the site's summary, Mihaylov is charged with tax fraud and money laundering. He calls the case political repression. The full article could not be opened, so it is not established whether he personally became an accused or how his immunity was handled. No verdict has been found. — eurocom.bg, 14.08.2026
  • Temporary commission in the 50th National Assembly on Istoricheski Park. A temporary commission of the 50th National Assembly, chaired by Vazrazhdane, a party in open conflict with Mihaylov, examined him and the project. According to Epicenter.bg, its report, with a classified part, went to ДАНС, the Interior Ministry and the prosecution, and the work ended without him being heard. Witnesses claim they gave him cash that was not repaid; one says he handed over 190,000 leva and got back 40,000. An economist said the park's declared value diverges from the company's reported balance sheet of 13.5 million leva. He denies wrongdoing and calls the inquiry a political hunt ordered by Borisov and Peevski. Svobodenglas.bg and town.bg report that he has sued the National Assembly for damages. — Epicenter.bg, August 2025
  • Announces the end of the Istoricheski Park project. bTV quotes him: "I fully bear the responsibility for having led people towards a dream, not reality" (our translation). He added that the vehicles would be returned to the leasing companies because people were insolvent. — bTV Novinite, 22.06.2026
