Corruption and scandals
- The cocktail on the day of the police killings. According to dnes.dir.bg, on 3 May 1996 BNT aired a report by journalist Sevda Shishmanova showing the interior minister at a cocktail in the National Palace of Culture after a beauty contest of the Visage agency. That morning three plainclothes police officers had been shot in the Lyulin 3 housing estate. - Dispute with the Prosecutor General over Lukanov. On 6 July 1995 the front page of 24 Chasa reported that Prosecutor General Ivan Tatarchev would open a criminal case against the interior minister over MP Andrey Lukanov. According to Tatarchev, he had verbally allowed the MP to leave the country on all his trips and had no right to do so. Nachev admitted letting him go abroad but said in his defence that he had received no materials from Tatarchev to check.
