Russia
- A post about political asylum outside the EU. On social media he describes the discrimination against him over the films Дякон Левски and Ботев and BNT's blocking of the project 1349 as „политизирана проява на фашизъм“ (a politicised manifestation of fascism; our translation). He writes that he has two options: „политическо убежище в страна извън ЕС, досещате се коя“ (political asylum in a non-EU country, you can guess which; our translation), or being an emigrant in his own homeland. — BG Dnes
- Says he is accused of Russophilia. In an interview for Telegraph, reprinted by Standart, he says that because of Botev's line in the film „Европа цели унищожението на източните славяни и на цялото човечество“ (Europe aims at the destruction of the Eastern Slavs and of all humanity; our translation) he is accused of Russophilia, „т.е. срещу Европа“ (i.e. being against Europe; our translation). In his view, those complaining about the film are people with political grievances against him regarding Russia and Ukraine. — Standart
- Gospodari.com on his Facebook statuses. The site compiles five of his statuses in a video and describes them as „носталгични и нежни погледи към Русия, ненавист към Европа“ (nostalgic and tender glances towards Russia, hatred of Europe; our translation) and as support for Възраждане. — Gospodari.com, 04.01.2023
Corruption and scandals
- Asked Делян Пеевски for money for a film. In an open letter on social media, Sega reports, he recalls that 10 years ago he called Peevski the new Levski because the only TV channel to air his film Левски was Peevski's Канал 3. He wants the money for his next project Караджата, because „турците (ДПС) уважават националния ни герой повече от българите“ (the Turks (DPS) respect our national hero more than the Bulgarians do; our translation). According to the paper, it is not known whether the DPS – New Beginning leader responded, and the post has since been deleted by its author. — Sega, 20.11.2025
- Дема Филм on the National Culture Fund reserve list. His production company is on the reserve list of the Creation and Distribution – Big Projects 2025 programme with the feature film Гальовния, Sega writes. It may receive the 59,804 leva requested; the fund's assessment says the project „се предлага за пълно финансиране“ (is proposed for full funding; our translation). — Sega, 20.11.2025
- BNT withdrew funding for his next film. Sega writes that BNT approved 285,000 leva excluding VAT for the film 1349 but, after the ensuing public discontent, withdrew its funding for the production. The film has not been made. — Sega, 20.11.2025
- BNT covered 100,000 leva of the budget of the film Ботев. About a third of the film's budget was covered by the public broadcaster, Sega reports. This emerged from a statement by director general Емил Кошлуков, who was summoned to the parliamentary culture committee after the film was broadcast. — Sega, 20.11.2025
