Corruption and scandals

  • The donor. RFE/RL reports that in early May 2020 journalist Dimitar Petsov filed a freedom-of-information request to learn the identity of the anonymous donor of food and drink for police at the checkpoints in Silistra during the state of emergency. Regional governor Ivelin Statev named restaurateur Milen Deliyski as the donor, "who publicly admits to local media that Todorov helps finance his charity actions" (our translation) – Todor Todorov, coordinator of GERB's local structure and leader of its list in Silistra. The article does not accuse Deliyski of any wrongdoing. — RFE/RL Bulgaria, 10.03.2021
