• Charge over the Pernik water crisis. The Appellate Specialised Criminal Court upheld the remand in custody of the former minister pending his trial on a charge of criminal mismanagement which, according to the prosecution, led to the water crisis in Pernik. The court found evidence that he allowed water to be transferred from the Studena dam for industrial use while its level was dropping. The minister resigned on 10 January, a day after his arrest, and denies wrongdoing; his defence argued that the documents were drawn up by subordinates and that water prices are set by the regulator. The court replied that responsibility was his and noted that documents on ten years of water use from Studena and a report on the state of the dam had been found in his office. Prosecutors allege damage of 11 million leva to the state; papers in court showed household users paying 2 leva per cubic metre and industrial firms such as Stomana 13 stotinki. — The Sofia Globe, 16.01.2020
• Second investigation over the Bansko concession. The prosecutor's office said the specialised prosecutor's office is conducting a new investigation of the former minister over actions in office concerning the Bansko ski area concession held by Yulen. It is based on documents seized in the Pernik case. In December 2018 the Council of Ministers mandated him to renegotiate the 2001 concession agreement, after the prosecutor's office had asked for the contract to be brought in line with the law. No renegotiated contract has been signed, and the subject of the investigation, according to Bulgarian National Radio, is whether he complied with his mandate. — The Sofia Globe, 31.01.2020
