• Registered, as a lawyer, a company of a man charged over exports to Russia. Bivol, citing a power of attorney it holds and checks in the public registers, writes that on 2 February 2023 Romanos Vetridis authorised him to register his company Faros 88 EOOD in Plovdiv. Vetridis has been charged by the prosecution as leader of an organised criminal group investigated by the State Agency for National Security (ДАНС); on 11 October 2023 the Plovdiv Regional Court remanded him in custody. The accused tried to export binoculars, optical sights and aviation radios worth over 4 million leva to the Russian Federation through Sofia airport; according to ДАНС the equipment was meant for Russia's special units, among them Wagner. To Bivol he confirms the registration: the power of attorney was a one-off, the contact came through an accountant he knows, Vetridis is not his client and he does not know him personally, and as the man was a Greek citizen it never crossed his mind to suspect anything – “I am neither the revenue agency nor ДАНС” (our translation). Da, Bulgaria states that he is still an active member of its National Council, that he fully meets its requirements of an unblemished record and that it is not aware of such a case. — Bivol, 20.10.2023
