Corruption and scandals
- Denies that the Donchev family runs Gabrovo. As a GERB MP he told BNT that the claim that the Donchev family runs Gabrovo is not true. He said: "First, Mr Donchev is a deputy prime minister and does not take part in running the city" (our translation). Donchev's brother heads a municipal landscaping unit and was appointed by the mayor. According to Sirakov, the post requires no competition because it is not on the municipality's staff. Whatever family ties exist in the municipality, the Conflict of Interest Act has been respected. He also listed BSP members who work in the municipality. — BNT, 6 October 2017
