Corruption and scandals
- Leaves the Величие parliamentary group in July 2024. Сега reports that he and five other Величие MPs close to Ивелин Михайлов left the group, which fell below the minimum of 10 members and dissolved. Николай Марков accuses Михайлов of influence peddling and of locking MPs in a barn, while Михайлов claims that some MPs were bought by ГЕРБ and ДПС. The accusations come from rival factions within Величие, and Петров was a participant in the split. No charges against him are documented. All members of the group became independents, and in March 2025 Михайлов returned to parliament with a new 10-member group that he also joined. — Сега, July 2024
