Corruption and scandals

  • Row over the dissolution of the MEČ group as he entered parliament. Speaker Kiselova declared the MEČ parliamentary group dissolved because, with Petkov and Ivan Ivanov not yet sworn in, MEČ had 9 MPs against a minimum of 10. MEČ leader Radostin Vasilev, himself a party to the dispute with Kiselova, said: „той до днес не е бил в България“ ("he has not been in Bulgaria until today" – our translation). According to Svobodna Evropa, the group was restored on 26.03.2025 by 170 votes, and Petkov and Ivanov were sworn in. The dispute concerned the rules for parliamentary groups. — Sega, 21.03.2025

Other

  • Manager of two firms after being declared an MP. Filter reports that Petkov was still manager of АС-АТ ЕООД and Храни за душата и тялото ЕООД, which deal in tiles and food supplements. According to the outlet, if he were sworn in without leaving the firms, he would be in a conflict of interest. It has not been established whether he left them or whether the conflict was ever checked. — Filter, 25.03.2025
