Corruption and scandals
- Austrian university: no record that he studied there. According to a written statement by Alpe-Adria University in Klagenfurt, quoted by the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung, „a student or graduate named Plamen Nikolov does not appear in the university's computer system“ (our translation), although his profile on the ITN site gives it as a place of his education. He told BTA that he did not graduate there but only defended a research project; the data in his LinkedIn profile were corrected afterwards. — Mediapool, 9 Aug 2021
Other
- The PM nominee said the Prespa agreement might be revised. As ITN's nominee he said of the agreement between Athens and Skopje: „Maybe we will revise this agreement“ (our translation). Mediapool notes that Bulgaria is not a party to it and cannot revise it. — Mediapool, 31 Jul 2021
- Moved to Vazrazhdane. He confirmed to Club Z that a Facebook profile campaigning for the party is his, but declined to say why he joined. The outlet writes that he left ITN three years earlier and joined about a year later, and that a person with the same three names is entered in the National Assembly register as an unpaid parliamentary aide of its leader, Kostadin Kostadinov. The press office replied that it had no such information. — Club Z, 14 Mar 2026
