Corruption and scandals
- Prosecution sought to lift his immunity after the attack on the EC Representation. After the 22 February 2025 protest against the euro and the attack on the European Commission building in Sofia, the prosecution turned to parliament over him and three other Vazrazhdane MPs and sought detention for him and Ivaylo Chorbov. According to the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office there was enough evidence that he threw pyrotechnics and bottles of flammable liquid at the building, which, besides hooliganism, is arson under Art. 330 of the Criminal Code. The prosecution was then headed by acting Prosecutor General B. Sarafov, whose appointment is disputed. The request was backed by PP-DB and DPS-New Beginning, political opponents of Vazrazhdane, but parliament did not give permission, and on 23 July 2025 MPs again refused to consider it. Until his death on 1 March 2026 there is no information that he was charged. — Boulevard Bulgaria, 1 March 2026, 24 Plovdiv (via 24 Chasa), 23 July 2025
- Physical clash with MP Manol Peykov in the parliament lobby. Debati.bg reports the clash with the PP-DB MP, a political opponent of Vazrazhdane. Peykov admitted calling him smotlyo, a pejorative Bulgarian word. The consequences were not checked. — Debati.bg, December 2024
- Protest in Ovcha Kupel over a transformer station and an alleged corruption scheme. As chairman of the district branch of Vazrazhdane, he led a protest against a transformer station and car park in front of the neighbourhood's mineral bath. According to BTA, cited by Utro Ruse, he said a building permit had already been issued without it being clear who the contractor was, and spoke of a potential scheme around the restoration money. The allegation is his, not one against him. The chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council announced that the project would not be realised. — Utro Ruse (via BTA), 2023
