Communist Party and State Security

  • Details of his recruitment by State Security. He was recruited on 6 March 1974, aged 24, by military counter-intelligence (VKR) as an agent of the Third Directorate of State Security under the pseudonym „Пеев“ (Peev), Faktor writes. The motives for recruiting him were „идейно-политически“ (our translation: ideological-political), and his case officers were Angel Stefanov and Ivan Ivanov. His main task was „да донася сведения за опазването на военната тайна от работещите в граничното поделение на БНА в Крумовград“ (our translation: to report on the guarding of military secrets by those serving in the BNA border unit in Krumovgrad), and later on the units in Haskovo and Pazardzhik where he served. — Faktor, 27.06.2026
  • BCP party organisation secretary, dismissed from the Interior Ministry. Faktor writes, citing his personnel file, that in the army he joined the BCP and later became secretary of the primary party organisation in Krumovgrad and Haskovo. In 1983 he moved to the Interior Ministry, to the Fifth Department for operational, combat and mobilisation readiness. In late 1985 he refused a reassignment to the Interior Troops, citing health reasons; according to the outlet, a check found discrepancies in his sick notes. Deputy Minister Gen. M. Minkov wrote in a report to Minister Dimitar Stoyanov that he „най-демонстративно отказа да заеме длъжността и изпълни заповедта“ (our translation: most demonstratively refused to take up the post and carry out the order), and proposed his dismissal. On 30 December the minister dismissed him „поради невъзможност да бъде използван“ (our translation: as impossible to use). — Faktor, 27.06.2026
