Corruption and scandals
- Interior Ministry reportedly investigated suspected vote-buying in her favour. Sega, citing Interior Ministry sources, reports that the ministry is investigating suspected vote-buying for Slavena Tocheva of GERB in Varna, who won 10,155 preference votes in the election. At least three proceedings are under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office. According to the same sources, a criminal group organised for election crimes has operated since the April 2021 election and receives full cooperation from GERB mayors in the region; the prosecution asked the court for special surveillance means, but the Regional Court refused. The article does not report a charge against her. Boulevard Bulgaria writes that the ministry has been investigating her for two years and that on 5 May she filed a question to caretaker Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev, asking for a written answer and insisting that the preference votes of Stela Nikolova of PP-DB be checked too: in her view the same measure should apply to everyone. — Sega, 4 Apr 2023, Boulevard Bulgaria, 11 May 2023
