Corruption and scandals
- The plaque. As Pazardzhik regional governor, Stefan Mirev sent back to the Velingrad municipal council for reconsideration its decision on a memorial plaque for Gen. Atanas Semerdzhiev on his birth house. He stated that the municipality "has no ordinance regulating the placing of such signs and symbols" (our translation). — 24 Chasa, 22.06.2018
- Access to information. Mirev is one of the nine GERB MPs, led by Anna Aleksandrova, who tabled amendments to the Access to Public Information Act. Lawyer Alexander Kashumov, head of PDI, told Sega: "The Access to Public Information Act is being ominously dismantled", and PDI said that closing access to primary accounting documents "can only be described as an attempt to introduce opacity, unaccountability, conditions for corruption and irregularities in the spending of public funds" (our translation). According to Sega, the nine adopted as their own proposals pressed for by the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria. — Sega, 19.06.2023
