Corruption and scandals
- His wife's business partner and the drone contract. Rumen Gechev of BSP alleges that the executive director of a firm in the consortium Български безпилотни летателни системи, chosen as contractor for the Ministry of Defence's TERES-02 tender worth about 11 million leva, is a partner of Tagarev's wife in Проком ООД, where Tagarev was still listed as a consultant. In a written answer Tagarev states that neither he nor his wife has any interest in Телесис; its manager is a partner in his wife's small firm, but she holds an insignificant share and has not taken part in its work for nearly 20 years. The contractor decision was announced more than a month before he became minister. — informiran.net, 10.11.2023, News.bg, 17.11.2023
- Dismissal as director of the Defence Institute. According to the Bulgarian Wikipedia, caretaker minister Yanev dismissed him on 31 March 2017 as director of the Defence Institute; according to the ministry the reason was "substitution of the tactical and technical specifications" (our translation) of the projects for a new type of fighter. In civil case 7714/2017 Sofia City Court found the order terminating his employment contract unlawful. — Wikipedia (bg)
