Russia
- Skripal: why Bulgaria did not expel Russian diplomats. In a Reuters interview Donchev said decisions to expel Russian diplomats after the poisoning of Sergei Skripal have to be taken by consensus and that "at the moment, for good or bad, there is no such consensus". Reuters reports that Bulgaria recalled its ambassador from Moscow but did not follow its allies in expelling diplomats. — Reuters (via Geo.tv), 30.03.2018
Corruption and scandals
- Questioned by prosecutors about the National Palace of Culture. Prosecutors questioned the deputy prime minister about the National Palace of Culture, for which he was responsible in the previous GERB government, spokeswoman Rumyana Arnaudova said. On the day of publication the former NDK director Miroslav Borshoch was charged with misappropriation and lack of care, Novinite.com reports. — Novinite.com, 19.07.2017
- BSP: his brother appointed without a competition in Gabrovo. BSP MP Kristina Sidorova alleged that his brother Momchil Donchev was appointed without a competition as head of the municipal green-spaces unit in Gabrovo by Mayor Tanya Hristova, his former chief of cabinet. The BSP said Donchev did not appoint these people personally but bears responsibility, and that it had filed a signal with the prosecutor's office. — PIK news agency, 05.10.2017
- Borisov recordings: doubts the prosecution would ignore them. On the audio recordings believed to feature Borissov, the deputy prime minister told bTV: „Аз лично се съмнявам, че ако съдържанието на такъв запис е инкриминиращо, прокуратурата би пропуснала да разгледа случая“ (our translation: I personally doubt that, if the content of such a recording were incriminating, the prosecution would fail to examine the case). The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office said it was investigating only the technical side of the recordings, not their content. — Actualno.com, 03.08.2020
- Donchev: Peevski had no role in GERB's governance. On Panorama the GERB deputy chair described the US report on corruption as a very strong signal mainly to Bulgarian society and acknowledged that institutions „исторически едва ли са се справили по най-добрия начин“ (our translation: historically have hardly coped in the best way). In his view GERB bears responsibility only for Aleksandar Manolev, and Delyan Peevski had no role in the party's governance. — BNT, 04.06.2021
