Corruption and scandals

  • Defamation claim by Asen Vasilev dismissed at first instance. On 29 July 2021, in parliament, Yordanov said that Asen Vasilev (PP), a political rival, had stolen intellectual property and had been convicted for it. The claim is for BGN 250,000; on 29 January 2026 the Sofia City Court ordered the claimant to pay the defendant's costs. The ruling is not final and, according to Dnes.bg, can be appealed. Sega notes that Vasilev did not help the court collect evidence. An earlier hearing in September 2022 was dropped by mutual consent, DeFakto reports, and the claimant later asked for the case to be restarted. — Sega, 29.01.2026
  • Remarks about foreign doctors working for 500 dollars. In June 2025, in the health committee, he said that if young doctors did not accept the pay on offer, foreigners would work for 500 dollars and be happy. He later said his words had been taken out of context. Slavi Trifonov apologised publicly: "Of course, Toshko Yordanov's words were unmeasured and too emotional." (our translation) There were calls for his resignation, but he kept his seat, and later conceded that the tone was wrong, darik.bg writes. — Focus News, 02.07.2025
  • Son's company and an electricity-trading licence – a BIRD allegation. BIRD writes that his son, Sibil Toshkov Hadzhitodorov, holds 70% of the new company Azur Energy OOD, which was expected to receive an electricity-trading licence, and links this to an ITN vote in parliament that kept the security details of Peevski and Borisov. PP-DB MP Yavor Bozhankov, a political opponent of ITN, raised the matter in the chamber, citing BIRD, and asked about a conflict of interest. Alexander Rashev of ITN denied knowing 'Taki', whom Bozhankov had named in his declaration. No investigation or charge is reported. — BIRD, 15.01.2026, Dnes.bg, 20.01.2026
  • Wife's companies – a mirogled.com allegation. The gossip site mirogled.com writes that a Commercial Register check shows two active companies in his wife's name, which should have been declared to КПКОНПИ, and that this was not done. The piece relies on former ITN colleagues who left the party and are described as sceptical of him. The declarations and the register have not been checked. — mirogled.com
