Corruption and scandals
- Former partner in a law firm with future GERB MPs. An investigation by BIRD.BG, cited by Boulevard Bulgaria, claims that Stefanov was a partner in the law firm Georgiev and Nazaryan together with Tervel Georgiev and Raya Nazaryan, who are now GERB MPs. According to the publication, all three were at the firm before entering politics. Stefanov has publicly given a chronology of his departure from the firm. — Boulevard Bulgaria, 4 July 2025
- Left the firm after a conflict, in his words. He explains that he began as a legal assistant while still a student and, after being admitted as a junior lawyer in January 2019, became a partner under a prior arrangement. - Denies links to clients tied to organised crime. BIRD.BG links his former colleagues to clients alleged to be close to figures of organised crime. Stefanov replies that he has nothing to do with them: "просто сега се правят привръзки с тъмни личности, на чиито авери въпросният Тервел Георгиев е бил адвокат в някакъв момент от времето, но не и когато аз съм бил там" (our translation: connections are now simply being made with dark figures whose associates Tervel Georgiev was a lawyer for at some point, but not when I was there).
