Corruption and scandals

  • Complaints to the national police and Sofia prosecutors about NSB's former management. Svetoslav Rusinov, his successor as head of Национална спортна база (NSB), told 24 часа: "Complaints have been filed with the national police and the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office about the actions of the former management, in the person of executive director Ventsislav Petkov" (our translation). He also claims that the former head demanded about 79,000 lv in compensation for his dismissal and that the National Social Security Institute is checking unpaid contributions. As his successor, Rusinov has an interest in casting his predecessor in a bad light. The interview was reprinted by Tribune.bg. The prosecution has not confirmed what was said; no indictment, case or conviction has been found. — Tribune.bg, 13.12.2022 (reprint of a 24 часа interview)
  • Claim about a software purchase. Столица.bg reports that under his management NSB bought an integrated software system for 1,746,000 lv: "The software was bought without a tender; 1,087,057 lv have been paid so far under the contract" (our translation). The ministry of Vesela Lecheva called the purchase unnecessary. The claims come from the ministry and from NSB's new management, which replaced the team of Radostin Vasilev and Petkov. No proceedings or conviction have been found. — Stolica.bg, September 2022
  • Accuses the MEC leader of collecting money from MPs. In late July 2026, by then a former MP and deputy chair of the МЕЧ parliamentary group, he publicly accused party leader Radostin Vasilev of collecting from MPs the extra two thirds of their salaries meant for representation costs and of buying a luxury watch with the money. He also released a recording. On Facebook he wrote that the thief was shouting for the thief to be caught, and said he had personally donated over 200,000 lv to the party. This is reported by Скандал Плюс, an outlet hostile to Vasilev, and the accuser himself is in open conflict with him. The claims are unproven. The accused has disputed similar claims before; no investigation has been found. — Скандал Плюс, 05.09.2026
  • Claim of a 1.1 million lv transfer to an IT company. 5gmedia.bg, in a publication hostile to Radostin Vasilev and Petkov, alleges that two days after the end of Kiril Petkov's cabinet he transferred about 1.1 million lv to a private IT company using a handwritten payment order. The site also alleges that he was investigated over the software contract, which caretaker minister Vesela Lecheva had called unnecessary. The site's owner and motive are unclear. No confirmation from the prosecution or a court has been found. — 5gmedia.bg, May 2023
