Corruption and scandals

  • Allegation that she used a car and driver of Napoitelni Sistemi. Lupa.bg, citing anonymous employees, claims that Marian Rusev, a BSP candidate from Karlovo, was sent to the state company as her personal driver, and that "to that end director Petkanchev even scandalously gave the MP his service jeep, a Toyota Land Cruiser" (our translation). According to Duma, the new leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture ordered a check, while she called the reports slander by tabloid websites and an attack on herself and the Socialists on the eve of the campaign, but asked for everything to be cleared up properly and with facts. — Lupa.bg, 18.08.2022, Duma, 22.08.2022
  • All the other candidates leave the list she heads. The BSP leadership put her at the top in Plovdiv province for the election of 9 June 2024 after the previous leader, Manol Genov, withdrew. Twenty withdrawal declarations by nominees were read out at the plenum of the National Council, BNR Plovdiv reports, and the order had to be set by party headquarters. — BNR Plovdiv, 27.04.2024

Other

  • Court rejects her challenge to the Karlovo election. She lost the 2023 mayoral run-off to Emil Kabaivanov (SDS) by 167 votes and alleged numerous gross violations. The Plovdiv Administrative Court upheld his election, 24 Chasa reports. — 24 Chasa, 28.11.2023
