Russia

  • Presented Sofia at a congress in St Petersburg. As chief executive of the Sofia Investment Agency he presented the capital's business and investment climate at a plenary session of the 6th International Congress St Petersburg and the Slavic World (28–30 November 2018). The announcement is the agency's own: the city took part at Governor Georgiy Poltavchenko's invitation to Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and had its own stand, and the team met Alexei Silkin of the local Committee on Investments, who expressed willingness to establish a partnership between the two cities; future joint projects were also discussed. — Sofia Investment Agency, 7 Dec 2018

Corruption and scandals

  • The caretaker finance minister's criticism of the Fund of Funds. Economic.bg reports that the Ministry of Finance was opening a competition for new directors, with an interim board appointed meanwhile. The Commercial Register and the fund's website still listed only the old managers – Martin Danovski, Aleksandar Georgiev and him; their mandate was in principle due to expire in October 2021. The outlet recalls that the review announced by Asen Vasilev at the end of May found the fund running at a loss, the previous government having transferred to it an extra BGN 20 million or more not provided for in the budget law. The article does not attribute the loss to him personally. — Economic.bg, 4 Aug 2021
