Corruption and scandals
- Fake profile. In February 2023 a post saying that „Putin is within his rights“ (our translation) appeared on a fake Facebook profile in his name. The Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation stated that Yordan Yovchev has no personal profile on the network and is not the author of the post („speculation and abuse of his name“; our translation). Yovchev told bTV that he has no Facebook profiles and that he had reported the profile in question. The post was taken down. — Trud, 28.02.2023
- National Sports Base. In June 2026, after becoming an MP for Progressive Bulgaria, Yordan Yovchev left the board of directors of the state company National Sports Base. Sega asked sports minister Encho Keryazov whether his presence there was appropriate; Keryazov replied that Yovchev had already submitted a request to leave. He was replaced by his friend and former teammate Krasimir Dunev. — Sega, 12.06.2026
