Corruption and scandals
- Blitz alleges nearly BGN 300,000 in losses in Dulovo municipality. On 4 October 2019 the news agency Blitz (author Orlin Filipovski), citing an ADFI report, alleged that abuses in Dulovo municipality had caused such losses, and implied that the mayor had done nothing. The article itself was not read. In a reply published by Kvorum Silistra he denies the allegations, says the check began on his own signal and suggests the report was leaked ahead of that month's election by his DPS political opponent Sezgin Galib, chair of the municipal council. In his words: "The findings of this report carry no sanctions for me as mayor or for the municipality I represent" (our translation). By his account he alerted the district prosecutor's office, the police and ADFI, and criminal proceedings were opened. No charge against him personally was found. — Kvorum Silistra, 10 October 2019
- Allegation of family appointments in Dulovo education. The same Blitz article alleged a friends-and-relatives arrangement in the Dulovo education sector involving the mayor, deputy mayor Doroteya Toteva and school director Steliyan Totev. Blitz itself was not read. In his reply in Kvorum Silistra he rejects the allegation: "I categorically state that I am related neither to my deputy Ms Toteva nor to the director Mr Totev" (our translation). He adds that both appointments were made by competition through the regional education inspectorate, not by him. No further action was found. — Kvorum Silistra, 10 October 2019
