Corruption and scandals
- The declaration. Mediapool places Markov among the three richest Progressive Bulgaria MPs. His declaration lists EUR 774,894 in a mutual fund, EUR 97,553 in cryptocurrency, EUR 185,000 in trust management, and a 130 sq m flat and parking space in Sofia "acquired free of charge in 2026" (our translation), plus shares of flats in Pamporovo and Haskovo, also received free of charge. - Quick loans. On 10.09.2026 Markov, together with Konstantin Prodanov and Stefan Belchev, presented the new Consumer Credit Act at a briefing, after Mediapool revealed that several key consumer protections had been dropped from the bill. Markov said: "Thugs have no place in the quick-loan business and their time ends now" (our translation). Prodanov said the bill "should not be seen as a final version but as work in progress" (our translation), and that the texts would be refined in parliament. — Mediapool, 10.09.2026
