Corruption and scandals

  • The Ruse quay. Journalist and activist Nadezhda Tsekulova, in a Facebook post ahead of the parliamentary elections aimed at Buchukovska as the lead candidate of Progressive Bulgaria in Ruse, claims that as the city's chief architect (2014–2021) she brought about, through the riverfront reconstruction, the complete concreting of the quay: "As a result it became uninhabitable, drove the citizens and guests of Ruse away from the river and effectively raised the average temperatures in the whole central part" (our translation). Tsekulova ends with an appeal to voters: "Voting for frauds and pseudo-progressive populists is a crime" (our translation). Dunavmost reports no reply from Buchukovska and no decision by any institution on the project. — Dunavmost, 12.04.2026
  • The chief architects. A publication mentioning a person named "Zhivka Makedonska (Buchukovska)" (the page gives no other detail linking her to the MP): in an opinion piece Dunavmost relays a column by Academician Petar Ivanov listing Ruse chief architects "responsible for this majestic degradation" (our translation), among them "Zhivka Makedonska (Buchukovska)"; according to Ivanov, "for some of these people, especially the last ones, the above does not apply, they bear no guilt before the city" (our translation). — Dunavmost, 03.09.2025
